EEC Fiche : IND-UT-102 Electronic speed variation system on an asynchronous motor (VEV)

EWC IND-UT-102 covers the installation of an electronic variable speed drive (VSM) on an induction motor. The aim is to optimize energy consumption in the industrial sector. The installation of an EVD system qualifies for energy-saving certificates in accordance with the conditions described in data sheet IND-UT-102.

Understanding standard operation sheets

The standard operation sheets produced by Ademe provide a reference framework for work eligible for Energy Savings Certificates (CEE). All standard operation sheets are uniformly registered according to an identical model, and are distinguished by a specific code established as follows: IND-UT-102. (IND for industry, UT for utilities).

The requirements of CEE IND-UT-102

Data sheet IND-UT-102 sets out the requirements to be met when deciding to install a variable speed drive (VSD) on an induction motor on an industrial site.

It enables the CEE form to be used to calculate bonuses based on energy savings in kWh Cumac.

Premiums are calculated on the basis of energy savings measured in kWh cumac.

It allows the financing of the installation of an electronic speed variation (ESV) system on an existing asynchronous motor that does not have one, or on a new motor with a rated power equal to or less than 3 MW.

Class IE2 motors, as defined by Regulation (EC) n°640/2009 amended by Regulation (EU) n°4/2014, purchased between January 1ᵉʳ 2015 and December 31, 2016 (7.5-375 kW) or after January 1, 2017 (0.75-375 kW), are excluded from this standardized operation.

Asynchronous motor applications

Industry is the application sector for asynchronous motors in IND-UT-102.

Manufacturers benefit fromimproved energy efficiency thanks to electronic speed control systems.

In particular, variable frequency drives optimize the performance of industrial equipment, extend motor life, limit wear and tear, reduce noise and vibration, and cut energy costs.

For tertiary sector buildings, the BAT-TH-112 CEE form should be consulted for the installation of an electronic speed control system on an asynchronous motor.

Advantages of the electronic dimming system

Improving energy efficiency

The electronic variable speed drive is designed to adjust the power delivered by a motor, precisely adapting the amount of electricity supplied to the specific needs of the appliance.

This ability to regulate speed improves energy efficiency.

Lower energy costs

Variable speed drives are a way of reducing an industry's electricity consumption and saving energy.

The energy gain can be estimated using the following formula:

Savings = Initial consumption - Consumption after installation of electronic variable speed drive.

Flexibility and precise speed control

One of the main advantages of electronic speed control systems is the ability to adjust motor speed to meet specific load requirements.

Conditions for issuing kWh cumac certificates

Installation must be carried out by a variable speed drive manufacturer or installer. Proof that the operation has been carried out indicates that the electronic variable speed drive has been installed. The document issued by the manufacturer indicates that the brand and part number of the equipment installed is an electronic variable speed system (VVS).

In addition, the asynchronous motor must comply with an energy efficiency class other than IE2 to be eligible. The contractual term is 15 years.

The work must comply with the technical requirements stipulated in data sheet IND-UT-102 to ensure optimum system efficiency.
