Fuji Electric has joined the FDT Group as a corporate member. FDT Group is an independent, not-for-profit international industry association.
This organization supports the evolution of FDT technology. This is part of the ongoing development of flowmeters and pressure transmitters.
These devices are designed to be compatible with FDT 3.0, a significant addition to the energy and environmental markets.
FDT Group Managing Director Glenn Schulz welcomed Fuji Electric as a new member of his organization. He noted Fuji Electric's membership and interest in developing Device Type Manager (DTM) based on the FDT 3.0 solution.
According to Schulz, this demonstrates FDT's central position and strength. He sees it as a response to industry demands for open standards that enable remote access and IT/OT integration.
In addition, the FDT 3.0 standard, known as FITS™, was recently launched. This occurred at the same time as the modernized development toolkits, known as Common Components. The aim is to give manufacturers in the automation industry the opportunity to begin development to meet changing customer requirements.
FDT Group’s mission to drive continued developments in open, standardized universal network/device integration and asset management is innovating the way automation architectures connect and communicate in process, hybrid and discrete manufacturing, including motion control applications.
FDT Group membership offers unique advantages for the entire industrial automation industry, including end users, suppliers/developers, service providers, universities, and individuals.
FDT member companies are generally system or device suppliers. They actively implement innovative business model strategies. A big help here is FDT's data-centric integration platform, which supports a variety of modern architectures.
FDT's Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) ecosystem consists of servers, desktops and devices. Joining this ecosystem offers valuable benefits.
Benefits include access to the new FDT 3.0 standard and discounts on modern development tools. Members also have the opportunity to participate directly in technical and/or marketing working groups. This enables them to contribute to the development of the FDT standard.
Finally, membership offers a first glimpse of how technology is evolving to meet market demands.
