Fuji Electric on the Carbon Disclosure Project's A-list for the 5th year running

Fuji Electric Co, Ltd. is pleased to announce that for the fifth year running, it has been included on the CDP's A list. This list recognizes companies that are pioneers in climate change action and environmental transparency. It achieves the highest ranking of the CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project).

The intent of Fuji Electric's Environmental Vision 2050 which determines the direction of the company’s long-term environmental activities, is for Fuji Electric to work toward achieving:

  • a recycling-oriented society,
  • and a society that is in harmony with nature through initiatives covering its entire supply chain.

Tackling climate change

As part of its efforts to combat climate change, Fuji Electric is working to reduceCO2 emissions. The company supplies equipment related to clean energy (geothermal and hydroelectric power plants), and power semiconductors, as well as energy-saving equipment and systems, such as inverters, power regulators and variable frequency drives.
In addition, Fuji Electric has introduced energy-saving equipment such as energy management systems, inverters and high-efficiency air-conditioning systems manufactured at its plants.

To combat greenhouse gases other thanCO2, measures are taken to reduce and find substitutes for gases with a high global warming potential.
In this way, the company encourages the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions in production activities.


The updated targets of Environmental Vision 2050

In FY 2021, following the agreement on the 1.5°C target at the Paris Agreement and COP26, the company raised the FY2030 Goals in its Environmental Vision 2050 to the 1.5°C level.

Fuji Electric determined the total amount of greenhouse gas emissions in FY2019, the base year for the FY2030 Goals, to revise the Goals.

These new goals are :

  • Make plans to introduce solar power plants at the company's factories and purchase renewable electricity (Scope 1 + 2).
  • Increase in the percentage of low environmental impact products, such as SiC power semiconductors (Scope 3).

Greenhouse gas emission reduction targets based on these missions have been validated by the Science Based Targets (SBTi) initiative, and Fuji Electric obtained SBT validation in December 2022.
